Additional info . lofting is the process of drawing lines of a boat full-size, to get the shapes and patterns needed for building. you take the numbers from the table of offsets, plot them on the floor, and then play connect-the-dots.. Most people think that it is a hassle ensuring that the lofting is accurate and complete. it is, however, way easier to erase and redraw a line than it is to rebuild a section of boat that did not turn out because of a lack of dilligence on the loftsman's part.. Lofting time for a design will vary from a day for a single chine hull to maybe two weeks for a large and complicated round bilge hull. taken as part of the total duration of the boat building project, that is a very small proportion and certainly not worthy of compromising the final result..
